My Wellness Routine

Updated: May 27

I was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 cancer in March 2022. The breast cancer that I was originally diagnosed with in 2019 metastasized to my lungs and bones. In November of 2021 I was in a car accident that left me with a fracture in my L1 vertebrae. I also suffered from a pulmonary embolism and multiple myeloma.  I was given a prognosis of 10 years to live with the use of the following medications: Lupron (induces premenopausal women into menopause), Ibrance, and Letrozole. In order to improve my quality of life and extend my diagnosis I take a holistic approach to manage my care. Below is a snippet of the protocols I use:

BODY

Below are some of the detoxification protocols I use.

DETOXIFICATION

Modern day conveniences have led to the overexposure of toxins and other harmful chemicals. The food, air, water, soil, and technology blasts our fields with toxicity. It is imperative to employ routine detoxification to ensure optimal health. Here are some of the things I use to detoxify.

Coffee Enema

My favorite treatment by far is my coffee enema routine. This is a simple and inexpensive way to cleanse your colon and liver. While the coffee is in the bowels it is absorbed into the bloodstream through the intestinal wall and through the liver's portal vein. The caffeine stimulates the gall bladder as well. From the book 'Heal Breast Cancer Naturally" by Dr. Veronique Desaulniers, coffee enemas also provide the body with phytochemicals which activate glutathione and cellular detoxification. The liver has many functions but one of its key functions is to detoxify. Consuming processed foods, alcohol consumption, and certain drugs and pharmaceuticals can make it toxic and sluggish. Just like the colon, if it isn't properly cleansed toxins will re-circulate and cause a systemic overload.

This treatment is relaxing and restorative and I take my time during the retention phase to meditate, visualize, focus as much as I can on the present moment, concentrate on my breath work, and envision the coffee purifying my blood and my organs.

I do this first thing in the morning and it is the perfect way to start my day. I use the organic SA Wilson coffee, please do not use regular coffee, you need a blonder coffee made specifically for enemas. I use three tablespoons for 4 cups of water. I use highly filtered water and I boil the concoction for 20 minutes the night before. I let it cool overnight, sift out the coffee grinds, and then before I use it,I reheat it on a super low temperature for 5 to 8 minutes.

Before I get started I set the mood. I turn on my himalayan salt lamp and my diffuser. This is my relaxing morning ritual before the hustle and bustle of my day so I take this time to relax and do my best to focus on the present.

I use a metal can, plastic hose that is replaced every 3 months, and a red rubber tip that inserts into my rectum. I lay on my left side on a disposable mat, I also have pillows and a blanket to cover part of my body, and towels if needed.

I then relax my body, insert the rubber hose into my rectum, and lift up the valve (this releases the enema). I typically retain the enema between 21 and 24 minutes. Your blood circulates every 3 minutes so within three minutes of insertion your liver is being detoxed and stimulated. Once the container is empty lie on your back or right side rub your abdomen from left to right (follow the shape of your colon).

Then make your way to your toilet and release. If you have a stool or an area to slightly lift up your feet do so. This makes is easier to have a bowel movement and relieves pressure in that area.

If coffee is too harsh use a green tea mixture. To optimize my time I also use a red light lamp.

Doing a coffee enema for 6 months or longer may deplete the body's iron supply as well as other minerals. This can cause anemia. Consult with a qualified health professional to ensure your levels are in a healthy range so they can prescribe supportive supplements to take.

Red Light Lamp

After leaving Hope for Cancer, I ordered a red light lamp. Red light helps to lower inflammation, increase bone healing, improve heart health, decrease pain, improve immunity, improve respiratory health, improve liver function, and improve brain health. I do the red light for about 30 minutes three times a week. You can order one through here from the Hope 4 Cancer website or you can search on Amazon.

Castor Oil Pack with Hot Water Bottle

After my coffee enema and red light I further support my detoxification process by using a castor oil pack and a hot water bottle. I also do this treatment three times a week for one hour. However, you can do it longer and even overnight. Be aware that the oil can seep through so make sure whatever surface you lay on is covered in towels.  Before you begin the process it is important to purchase a castor oil that is pesticide free since it is going on your skin. Make sure your oil has the following: cold pressed, 100% pesticide free, organic, non hybridized, free of preservatives and additives, non solvent extracted, unrefined, and non deodorized. I also use a wrap that I pour the oil on and tie on my body. Before the first use, I wash the wrap to remove any impurities from it and let it air dry the night before.

Before starting the treatment, test a small amount of oil on your skin to make sure there is no reaction. Heat up your water for the hot water bottle and pour it into the hot water bottle. Pour the solution on the right of the wrap and make sure you apply the wrap on the right side of your body (where your liver is). Sit or lie down, place pillows below your knees and feet to alleviate pressure from your lower back and place the hot water bottle on top of your wrap.

Afterwards, remove the solution with a non toxic soap or 1 quart of water and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Also drink throughout the data as water aids in the detoxification process.

Sauna

I use an infrared sauna once a week. Studies show sweating eliminates heavy metals and petrochemicals. Sweating is a preferred pathway of detoxification by some toxins to be released as opposed to urine. This method can release the body from mercury, cadmium, lead, and arsenic. An infrared sauna can also improve heart health, lower inflammation, fight infection, and decrease your risk of lung and respiratory disease. It can also help your skin health too.

Rest

It goes without saying that sleep is paramount to every living thing. Especially cancer survivors and thrivers. After all the physical and mental trauma, I need a lot of sleep to function. I rest in the evening and throughout the day if possible. Resting through certain periods in the day detoxifies certain organs. For instance, the hours of 3am to 5am relate to the lungs and the hours of 11am to 1pm correlate to the heart. No matter when and where sleep is essential to reset the body and heal.

MIND

Psychologist

Before my diagnosis I briefly used the assistance of a therapist mid 2019 to gain coping tools for my career transition and temporarily living with my in-laws during a home renovation. After I received my diagnosis and mounting stressors I eagerly revisited my therapist.

An important suggestion through my nurse oncologist was to solicit the help of a therapist that uses cognitive behavioral therapy. "CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems"  "This therapy can help identify and cope with specific life challenges as well.

The grounded assistance from my therapist helps to manage my emotions. Speaking, venting, and finding solutions with a professional has been a key tool to ease me mentally.

Psychiatrist

It goes without saying that my health experiences were traumatic. Add to that being in induced menopause creates further health issues like mood swings, intense cravings, night sweats, and lack of sleep to name a few. I tried everything within my power to not use more medication but it was not possible. I needed the assistance of antipsychotics and sleeping pills to manage my mental health. To get these prescriptions I enlisted a psychiatrist to accurately diagnose, prescribe, and monitor my condition.

Recall Healing Therapist

Recall Healing is a multi-faceted therapy tool that takes into account a person's first two and a half years of life, birth order, the year and month of their independence, diseases, and more to uncover the missing pieces of a person’s healing puzzle. Recall Healing is a combination of research from multiple professionals and is ever evolving. The primary contributors include Claude Sabbah founder of Total Biology. Dr. Derek Hamer provided the important contribution of German New Medicine. Anne Ancelin Schutzenbuger is the founder of the Family Tree birth order matrix. A fabulous tool for seeing the unfinished business picked up by an ancestor(s). Other notables include Jack Chang and Carl Jung.

This healing modality connected the specific components that led to my cancer diagnosis. (please note this research is not supported by the AMA) To read more about RH, check out my recall healing posts.

Vision Board

In order for my brain to visualize a long and happy life, I look at the vision board I created. I use both short and long term goals so that my mind sees that I have a long, healthy life ahead to live with my family.

SOUL

I am a very intuitive person and I have a deep connection with the metaphysical side. In order to heal and support my soul’s journey I do the following:

Meditation

This is a work in progress for myself as I am managing my current addiction to my phone and social media apps. The constant scrolling creates a negative feedback loop.  However, I still outline a small portion of my day that is technology free where I focus on the present moment. As I said earlier I do my meditation during my coffee enema. Why during an enema you ask? Well it forces me to focus on the present moment only and my breathe work. The moment my mind ventures to the past (depression) or the future (anxieties) I lose my ability to retain the enema inside my rectum and things can get messy. Stacking this practice during another one of my therapies helps me to commit to the time and is a good use of my time.

Medical Astrology and Numerology

Numerology and Astrology are the two most scientific and reliable metaphysical sciences that provides a thorough template for your personality.

Numerology can dial into your personality, potential life challenges, lessons you need to master, and potential careers. In numerology you can refer to your ruling number to investigate what parts are ruled by that number. To get your ruling number add up all numbers in your birthday until you can get a number from 1 to 11 or 22. Someone with the birthday of March 3rd, 2002 has the ruling number of 10. March 3rd 2002 breaks down to 3/3/2002, then 3+3+2+2 = 10.  Ruling number 10’s have two sides: being bright/happy/and confident or go on the opposite spectrum to insecure, lost, and floundering. To read more of about ruling number 10 as well as the other numbers, check out my blog post from my sister site The Intuitive Empath.

In astrology there is a subset of the practice that focuses on the body. This is called medical astrology (please note this practice is not backed by the AMA).

For Medical Astrology utilize your sun, moon, and rising sign.

My sun is in gemini, my moon is in Cancer moon, and I am Aquarius Rising. The parts of the body affected by cancer correlate to these signs. Some of the areas ruled by Gemini (a sign of communication) are the lungs and nerves. One of the body parts ruled by Cancer is the stomach, and for quirky Aquarius the nerves and circulation are some areas this air sign governs. From this perspective it makes sense why I was also predisposed to a cancer of the breast, lungs, and lymph nodes.
